Marketing expert Chris Preston has the answers in this second edition of Event Marketing. From the basics of promoting an event to the use of events as marketing strategies themselves, Preston provides straightforward advice and information on all the latest event marketing techniques. The book begins with sections on what "event marketing" really means, and how the field has evolved throughout time. Preston then explores event marketing strategies from both a conceptual and practical standpoint, and provides information on sponsorship and corporate branding.
The book covers marketing for all types of events, including festivals, corporate and association events, and social functions, and a full chapter on digital event marketing covers all the latest e-marketing strategies. Case studies provide real-world examples of successful marketing efforts, while Discussion Questions for each chapter provide opportunities for further exploration of key concepts.
As marketing becomes an increasingly important skill for event management professionals, this completely revised second edition of Event Marketing will be a must-have for working professionals, students, and aspiring event planners everywhere. He has extensive experience in the academic world of marketing and events as well as a commercial marketing background at the corporate level.

I have been studying event planning for a few years now. This book has some great information. If you are working in or wanting to work within the "Event Marketing" field, then this book is a must have for your book collection.
Having just bought about 10 books related to event marketing on Amazon, to brush up on my chops a little, I've been finding most of them to be somewhat useless. This book was better than most, despite being release. Lots of good general info on sponsorships, basic PR, market segmentation analysis, and promotion. I say buy it used, save some money, and enjoy the other books in this series. They seem pretty good.
I'm reading Wiley Events Risk Management now and it's pretty good as well These book would be very good for seminars or even in the classroom. There are very good tips and resources in this book to help you to become very successful in marketing your events.

Excited to crack this book open! One person found this helpful. This book was my required text for my class, so it was not by choice. My professor and I realized alot of the information was outdated. When I began reading this book, I knew it was a textbook and expected the normal dry, wordy textbook in which information is buried under an avalance of prose. I was delighted to find a work that was clear, complete, informative, and interesting to read.
I found that I looked forward to each chapter and subject.
The information is presented in prose, lists of important topics, and highlighting of certain need-to-know material in such a way that cross-refencing and finding previously studied material are amazingly accessible. Added bonuses are the quotes before each chapter and the personal experiences at the end of each chapter. The suggestions about organization, multitasking, and people management are so original and all-encompassing that I heartily recommend this book for everyone -- not only those interesting in planning events.
