In my experience Gen Xers are typically middle managers and although they make hiring decisions and typically handle operations, they often times lack the ability to make real substantial change in company culture. Ultimately, every company is different. Gen-Xers seem to be able to relate in ways to both the Millennials and the Baby Boomers and can serve as the bridge in the differences between the two.
As a millennial and upcoming graduate, I found your blog post not only timely, but quite interesting. It is not uncommon that the previous generation is always critical of the following generation, but it seems in the case of Millennials we receive a lot more flak than usual. I am not sure if that is because of the proliferation of the Internet and ability for previous generations to openly criticize my generation through blogs, news articles, and more, or receive criticism because a large majority of us actually are lazy, entitled, and dependent. While I appreciated the advice of your blog, I do not know if I am in agreement with the need for it to have been written due to the fact that the advice you have given is common knowledge to anyone who is observant and intelligent.
Additionally, I know that when I walk in the door of my future job, I will have done the research and preparation to be successful at my new position, and an essential asset to the team that I am working with, no matter what generation or background the team members come from. Negative adjectives can be thrown around to describe all generations, and I am sick of hearing about how ours needs help. Here is a great post from CNN.

I find this blog post interesting because I am a millenial and my dad is the baby boomer. It is interesting because he seems right in place at work with all his similarly aged co-workers and I seem right in place at school and work as well.

I think if people would just be honest with themselves about their strengths and weaknesses generations would be able to help each other out and pick up the slack the other is missing, equally complimentary, useful, necessary. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork.
And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it.
