Please try again later. As both patient and practitioner, I adore the book Code to Joy. I have experienced generalized anxiety for as long as I can remember, even in grade school. After completing my Doctorate in Naturology, a degree encompassing several holistic modalities, and also my CHt certification in hypnotherapy I began my practice in my home office. It was in a perfect location for my practice and for him to get to and from public transportation into the city.
I was devistated, I experienced my Asteroid Hit, I was not even able to be present when potential buyers came to view my home, and had my realator call me in advance so I would be able to leave while the buyers came to see it. We moved into a tiny basement apartment in a relatives home with our 3 cats. We knew we needed to move again in a timely manner, since two adults and 3 cats in a studio apartment, and with all of our belongings in storage was uncomfortable, to say the least. After about three months of stressful living with my husband on unemployment and myself without income or office to practice in, things were very tense.
We decided now that I look at it it was on a "whim" to pick up and move to another area of the country. I figured, what the heck? How can things get worse? I will be able to experience living in another area of the country. We purchased a new home and soon afterward I began knowing that this area of the country was "not for me. I developed extreme agoraphobia and a phobia of driving.
I became so dependant upon my husband that our relationship began to crumble and he was angry with me all of the time. I soon became severely depressed and my fibromyalgia was getting increasingly worse and unable to manage. Severe panic disorder set in. I felt unsafe all of the time. I felt trapped and agoraphobic at the same time. I was angry with myself and the situation and with others and wanted to be rescued.
I was mostly angry with myself. I was becoming a victim! I hung around the house all day in my pajamas. I began a fight or flight reaction routinely: I traveled back and forth 5 times within 3 years of my relocation. I went for CBT and my doctor told me that I was not depressed. I went on valium. He told me I needed social interaction, and needed to improve my self worth and self esteem.
I read 7 self help books. I became obsessed with religious dogma I was living once again with my parents. I was ok living there but I dont like living with relatives.

I actually must confess I skipped ahead to reveal the fourth step. This is why I rated the book with 4 stars instead of five. I wanted a book that would give me the epiphany "so THIS is how a person is naturally I actually stopped reading this after an interesting discussion with someone who gets paid to listen to me whine and rant and muse. I wanted a book that would give me the epiphany "so THIS is how a person is naturally happy!
And I followed the instructions Aha, I thought, I will ask my counselor! Perhaps a more positive approach would be to list the positive things that are in my life! Anyway, I appreciate that there was a shining burst of hope on my part, and accept that I am like that Lil' Abner character who walked around under a dark cloud -- and that I CAN affect that by my actions Jul 23, Pam rated it it was amazing.

Following the four-step process in this book has been a transformational experience. This was a reading assignment for an art business class and I didn't have more than mild expectations. This book is the science of our energy combined with the steps to let things go that hold you back in your life. I will read this book again. I recommend this book to everyone Aug 10, Angria rated it really liked it. I love this book. In fact, among all the self-help books i have read so far, this is the only one i trust like a bible. I love the idea that we are all meant to be happy. Consciously, we try to be happy and our ultimate goal is to be happy in our life. No one in their right frame of mind would want to be a sad person.
However, the problem is, subconsciously, due to some previous microtraumatic experience which we might have already forgotten, we are held back which makes us lack of confi I love this book. Here is where the four-step solution comes into picture and it works. It truly works on me. The story of the flea and the elephant paints a vivid picture of our two minds — conscious mind and subconscious mind.
I am amazed at how much we are controlled by our subconscious mind without us realising it. The series of exercises are utterly simple yet effective and that is what i have been practising on a regular basis even after a month reading the book. This therapy is called energy psychology, a rather recent finding, it seems. This is not only a good read, but also a code to joy, no less. Feb 01, G rated it it was ok. If you don't believe in any of that, don't bother with this book. That said, I'm sure a lot of people do somehow get benefits out of those practices.
But I highly doubt the reason those practices are ever effective is because we all have a "biofield" that gets it's polarity reversed. And how convenient that just about everything in modern life as well as all your negative emotions contributions to "reversing the polarity". The stories are too feel-good and the few scientific studies that get trotted out are hardly conclusive or consistently replicated in the actual scientific community. Maybe there's something there and the common science will be proved wrong, but mostly this book is more new age malarky.
Right now I feel like this book has some good example stories, but not enough information on how to associate anything they might do for things that are specific to me. I was hoping for more of a self-help book -even if I did not agree with the methods. So far, I haven't really seen anything regarding methods and I'm half-way through the book. I'll keep reading and update when done. Never too late to recover I started the exercise before the investigation process and felt an immediate lift. In 2 days I read this entire book and started the investigation and began practice immediately to address individual beliefs. The practices are simple and easy to follow. I can lament if only this information was available 40 years ago my life may have been different. But, it's different now and for that I am grateful.
