Faith represents sacrifice, gladly given in moving forward the work of the Lord. The gospel is good news. It is a message of triumph. It is a cause to be embraced with enthusiasm. Let us not be afraid. Jesus is our leader, our strength, and our king. This is an age of pessimism. Ours is a mission of faith. To my brethren and sisters everywhere, I call upon you to reaffirm your faith, to move this work forward across the world.

Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory! So wrote the Prophet Joseph in a psalm of faith. How glorious is the past of this great cause. It is filled with heroism, courage, boldness, and faith. How wondrous is the present as we move forward to bless the lives of people wherever they will hearken to the message of the servants of the Lord.

How magnificent will be the future as the Almighty rolls on His glorious work, touching for good all who will accept and live His gospel, and even reaching to the eternal blessing of His sons and daughters of all generations through the selfless work of those whose hearts are filled with love for the Redeemer of the world. I invite every one of you, wherever you may be as members of this church, to stand on your feet and with a song in your heart move forward, living the gospel, loving the Lord, and building the kingdom.

Together we shall stay the course and keep the faith, the Almighty being our strength. Who among us can say that he or she has not felt fear? I know of no one who has been entirely spared. Some, of course, experience fear to a greater degree than do others. Some are able to rise above it quickly, but others are trapped and pulled down by it and even driven to defeat.

Go Forward with Faith

We suffer from the fear of ridicule, the fear of failure, the fear of loneliness, the fear of ignorance. Some fear the present, some the future. Some carry the burden of sin and would give almost anything to unshackle themselves from those burdens but fear to change their lives. Let us recognize that fear comes not of God, but rather that this gnawing, destructive element comes from the adversary of truth and righteousness. Fear is the antithesis of faith.

It is corrosive in its effects, even deadly. Paul wrote to Timothy: I wish that every member of this church would put those words where he might see them every morning as he begins his day. They would give us the courage to speak up, they would give us the faith to try, they would strengthen our conviction of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that more miracles would happen over the earth. I spoke one day to a friend who had escaped from his native land. With the fall of his nation, he was arrested and interned. His wife and children were able to get away, but for three years and more he was a prisoner without means of communication with those he loved.

The food was wretched, the living conditions oppressive, with no prospects for improvement. I put my burdens on him, and then they seemed so much the lighter. It all works out. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out.

Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. Could not any of us say that if we had greater faith in God we could do better than we are now doing? I loved the way that this particular prophet wrote and I am sure if he had written his own biography, it would have been more lively.

This is a very well written biography on President Hinckley. It is informative and interesting at the same time- not always an easy task for biographies. A tremendous volume on one of the great men and leaders of the twentieth century, I recommend this work even in the CD format that is still available, particularly useful for those who do not have the time to read the full-text book. Also, as this biography was originally published in the mid's, a print update in English covering the subsequent ministry and leadership of President Hinckley would indeed be welcome.

It may only be one function of the body, but without it, the body dies. As we seek to increase our faith by doing good at all times, we will find that doing good becomes easier and easier, and more and more pleasant. This way to home. To address communication problems with couples in counseling, I often point to the four dangerous patterns identified by Dr. John Gottman from the University of Washington after years of research. These are the four patterns to watch for in your communication: Criticism We are critical when we communicate our concerns in a way that can be interpreted as personally attacking or blaming. Inevitably, concerns and frustrations in marriage expressed as criticism rise to the surface, often at Nelson spoke Saturday evening to nearly 50, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints about the necessity of religion.
