She will not let Olivia lie to herself or to her. They were high school sweethearts, the high school sweethearts that made you jealous. A love that was so intense and so strong you really think nothing can break it. But something can break it, a pretty little lie. A little lie that kept them apart from each for 7 years but fate, fate is a bastard, a sneaky little bastard that has its own plans. And one awkward moment brings them back together. Luke, has been praying for this chance, praying for a do over and he has no plans of letting Olivia run ever again.
Luke is everything that screams sexy, he is successful, determined, funny, and oh so patient. And is turning cartwheels. And my intestines are in my throat. Like I might be stalker level in love with this book boyfriend. Olivia is beyond great character. I love her humor and her fashion advice, actually I think those might have been some of my favorite parts of this book. Excuse me for just a moment while I dance around with excitement for my friend Jennifer!!
I am happy and proud of her for accomplishing a dream, and not only writing a book, but publishing it! This book has realism, heartbreak, swoon worthy chemistry, redemption, friendship, humor, love, and it's all about second chances. This is a book that has a little bit of everything. For the story's main character Olivia, it's a story about her second chance Excuse me for just a moment while I dance around with excitement for my friend Jennifer!! For the story's main character Olivia, it's a story about her second chance a love her ran away from 7 years prior to the story starting.
That run away set in motion a train wreck of events, including an abusive marriage that thankfully has now ended in divorce and sent her back to her home town, and yes, into the arms of her first love. Before you sigh or roll your eyes, believe me, it's not as easy as I just made it sound. Olivia is a smart, beautiful, intelligent girl whom I felt bad for, laughed with, and cheered on. Olivia's growth was evident through out the story.
I loved the Jennifer didn't make a victim, but instead made Olivia this feisty character who was fed up with the lies, the cheating and the abuse and gets the heck out of dodge and away from Deacon, the sleezy ex-husband. Instead of making Olivia this "poor me" type of girl, she makes her this women I could relate to, even though I've not dwelt with the things Olivia has. Olivia picks up the pieces of her life and makes something of it, including confronting a past she ran from, something that has haunted her and her ex-Luke for seven years.
Oh my goodness Pyper is that best friend you want in your life These's two know each other like the back of their own hands. The things these two do, say and the situations they find themselves in had me laughing out loud.
There are some down right hysterical situations, and I loved that Pyper not only was there for her best friend, but she forced to get out of her slump and move on with life. Even though their speed dating situation didn't work out, it did land Olivia back into Luke's life.
Oh he is one hot love interest. I loved how Jennifer allowed me to get a glimpse into what Luke and Olivia had in high school, via Olivia's thinking about the things they did, what they went through, experienced, and that little white lie she over heard that sent her packing in the first place. Don't worry, we find out what was really said, why, and if Olivia had only stayed and confronted Luke about it, how things would have been so different for the two of them. BUT, instead we get a story that allows the two of them to pick up right where they left off.
The things they've both done the past seven years have made them grow up, and have them both realizing they've both been wanting the same thing, each other. Oh mama, is the chemistry between these two hot. These two of their fair share of sexy times, as well as humorous moments like when Olivia falls off the desk when a little something something was going down. Oh yes, these two are written in a very realistic way and I loved the realism in this story.
Most importantly I loved that these two have been given a second chance at love. What Luke and Olivia have is one of those soul mate, true love type of loves. It was right and I loved reading about their reconnecting. I liked the way that Jennifer allowed me to get to know her characters, especially Olivia.

Being in her early twenties, and a divorced women hurts, but it wasn't the end of the world for her, and I love she was able to find herself again. How she grew and changed and owned who she was. Each chapter has a fun fashion tip at the top, indicating what's to come in that chapter. It flowed perfectly with the book, since fashion is Olivia's line of work. There were a few times I felt the story dragged for me, but over all this was a story I seriously enjoyed.
Holy crap, talk about a killer ending! Over all this is an adult read I'd recommend taking with you to the beach, the pool, the lake or wherever you're Summer reading takes you. May 02, Andrea rated it really liked it. Stilettos are great when paired with a great pair of jeans, a skirt, or a dress. Not only do they make your legs look longer and give your calves a great workout but they have the added bonus of coming in handy should you need to give a cheating husband a kick in the crotch! I loved the fashion tips that began every chapter. Just like Olivia, I could've kicked her cheating, slime-ball of an ex, Deacon, right in the crotch more than once!!
Oh, I didn't like him and with good reason as you will find out no spoilers. Olivia decides enough is enough, she's taking her life back. She divorces her ex, heads home to her best friend and bumps, literally, into Luke, her first love and realises she still loves him. Luke is now a successful businessman and all kinds of hot!!
Can Olivia resist him? Does she even want to? I loved Olivia's fiery best friend Pyper, who only has Olivia's best interests at heart even if Olivia thinks otherwise! She made me laugh out loud so many times especially when trying to get Olivia back onto the dating scene.. I want a best friend like her. It makes you look like a big zit straining to pop. Also, pea-green is not a good color.
There was enough hotness to set my kindle on fire and start my pulse throbbing amongst other things! I did think towards the end of the book that the story was going to be rushed as there seemed to be loose ends to tie up but just when I thought that, BAAM!!! I loved the ending A very worthy 4 stars for this well written debut novel, definitely 1-click buy this book. I wait with baited breath for the next novel from the pen of this rising new author, Jennifer Miller. Jun 10, Espe rated it it was amazing.
In this debut novel from Jennifer Miller, we read about Olivia and her best friend, Pyper. Olivia, dreaming of a happily ever after with her highschool sweetheart, overhears something that changes her destiny. Moving forward, she runs away to the arms of the first boy that takes the pain away.
A boy that is bad news all the way around. Just a few short years later, she finds herself divorced and moving back to her hometown to find herself again. Olivia brings Pyper along for the road to self-dis In this debut novel from Jennifer Miller, we read about Olivia and her best friend, Pyper. Olivia brings Pyper along for the road to self-discovery. And what do you know Pretty Little Lies is romantic comedy at its finest. Olivia and Pyper partake in some of the most hilarious antics related to online dating, fashion, and first date disasters.
The dialogue is real, it's witty, and filled with strong emotion. As a fashion writer and blogger, Olivia gives the reader a "Fashion Tip" at the start of each chapter. The tips range from the very helpful check all angles , to the hilarious no fanny packs! Olivia's attention to detail really reflects who she is as she rebuilds her life back home. Pretty Little Lies is sexy, with a hot man included! The romance is beautiful, the emotion is strong. And, as a divorced woman, I can totally relate to that feeling of "finding yourself" again. Jennifer Miller nailed it! If you want romance, fashion, sexiness, and comedy, Pretty Little Lies has it all!
And trust me when I say you will fall in love with Luke and his dimple: Apr 17, Mary Ting rated it it was amazing. I received an ARC for an honest review. And there were many moments of…Oh my God! That did not just happened! Olivia is an amazing character. I enjoyed seeing her develop and grow throughout the story—finding herself, and finally believing in herself. One of my favorite lines from Luke: Pretty Little Lies was well written, the story flowed well, and the characters were not only amazing, but believable too. With lots of humor, romance, heartbreak, forgiveness, friendship, passion, struggles, and self-discovery, this novel had it all.
As I wondered if there would be a sequel toward the end, I found out…. Oh…did I mention how much I laughed out loud, felt my heart tug in good and painful way. Pretty Little Lies is a beautiful love story about second chances…there is no little lies about that!!! Aug 21, H. It pulls you in an emotional roller coaster and I cannot help but feel a disturbing hate towards Deacon. I feel completely and utterly connected to Olivia and damn it if I am not there for every bump in her life. I am devastated by the betrayal she feels but overall, I am invested in seeing her happiness.
When she has to jump and take a chance on finding new love, I am there holding her hand the whole way. Overall, this book simply makes you feel. What an amazing feeling to understand the characters so thoroughly. The friendship and loyalty she has with Pyper makes me utterly happy and gleeful at their reunion and overall there is a moment that she is listening to a song, Philip Phillips Home that actually makes me tear because of a deep connection I have with the song.
This book touched me so profoundly lastly because of Luke. Lord, Luke… he is utterly an amazing character and real. I feel like I can actually believe he exists… yes I wish! I would claim him yesterday. We are destined damn it! Now with every story there is a little bad, but seriously the only thing bad about the story is that it ended as a cliffhanger of the most epic proportion!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves an epic love story…. Sep 03, Alla rated it it was ok. I could not get into this book at all, and that doesnt happen very often. I could not connect with it. The concept of the story was good and I really liked the synopsis of the book, but it was just not what I expected, at all. I found some thing just very childish, Olivia just kept going in circles in her head about her feelings and not feelings. Some of the conversations and interactions in the book had me just wanting to give up on it, thing were just dragged out for no reason at all.
I had a very hard time finishing this one: May 05, Aydrea rated it it was amazing. That was the end, no that freaking sucks! On another note I loved it, so freaking good. In the beginning she ticked me off, she could have been with Luke the whole time, but I guess that made for an interesting reunion. Now I want the next book, ahh! May 05, Crystal rated it really liked it. I really liked this!
May 13, The Three Bookateers rated it liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Forewarning - This review may contain spoilers. Don't kill me, I tried my best not to reveal too much. However you should read on my friends, read on. Olivia Brooks and Luke Easton were 'that' high school couple. You know, the 'it' couple of their school, the ones that were madly-in-love and made you This review was taken from our book blog: You know, the 'it' couple of their school, the ones that were madly-in-love and made you wish you had the same thing.
The ones that you looked at, and all you could feel was insane jealousy that they had found their other half, the ying to their yang, the dot to their i and the love to their heart I know, I know, I am way too corny: They were truly the lucky ones that found their love young. But that's the thing, they found their love young, which made a certain someone doubt their love and their future.
Now what could happen to turn such a perfect romance into mush? Well it just so happens that one day, Olivia hears overhears something that she shouldn't of, this thing is the 'pretty little lie' of the novel, which causes her to question her entire relationship with Luke and their entire future. They were supposed to go off to college together and build a future together, you know the whole 2.
But what she overhears makes her run. She packs up, fleds town, transfers college and makes her family and best friend promise never to tell Luke where she left to. She ups and leaves Luke without saying a word to him. Now this made me angry because if they had that kind of love, you would think she would want an explanation for what she overheard.
See a Problem?
But I understand why she left, I mean if you overhear something you shouldn't have heard that totally crushed you. I guess you wouldn't want to know why because the reason may hurt you even more. So I guess in a way, I understand why. Anyway, moving on Olivia starts over in Boston. Where she throws herself into a sub-par love with a blue eyed, blonde called Deacon. Fast forward a few years and their married. All is perfect on the outside but inside they have their problems, Olivia turns into a recluse of herself and ignore all the tiny problems in their relationship.
Thank god that another something something happens which see's Olivia kick asshole-Deacon to the curb. Leaving Deacon, Olivia heads back home to Chicago, Illinois. The home she never came back to in the past seven years that she had been away. Halbjorn tells her that he's running from the Icelandic police who're after him because he protested against the demolition of a puffin sanctuary.
Unfortunately, his travel visa only lasts for a week. Aria proposes the idea of marrying him, and the two head off to Atlantic City to elope. At the hotel, they attend a magic show involving two panthers, which greatly angers Halbjorn, who cares a lot about the environment. After getting married the following day, which requires Aria to forge her mother's signature and lie about her age, they go to the place where the panthers are kept. After convincing Halbjorn not to release the panthers, they go back to the hotel.
The next morning, Aria wakes up to find Halbjorn gone and his clothes missing as well. On the lobby's TV, Aria sees that Halbjorn ended up releasing the panthers anyway. Aria goes to the courthouse and confesses to lying about her age and forging her mother's signature, making the marriage null and void. Upon returning to Rosewood, she is joined by Mike and Byron, who know nothing about her marriage. As they watch TV, it shows that Halbjorn has been caught, and it also reveals that he's done these sorts of things in the past, including trying to blow up a demolition office. Aria's satisfied with breaking up with him, but is paranoid about someone following her.

Alison mysteriously disappears during a sleepover with the girls in the summer before 8th grade. Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery, and Emily Fields continue to receive text messages from an unknown person, "A", and are more desperate than ever to discover the identity of "A", who is still taunting them with the threat of exposing their many secrets. At first the girls think "A" is Alison, because she is the only person who knew their secrets, but then they start to believe the person behind the threats is Toby, because some messages they receive refer to 'The Jenna Thing' and with Alison dead, he is the only other person who was a part of the incident, although everyone but Spencer is unaware of why he took the blame for what happened to Jenna.
Now homeless, Aria goes to live with her new boyfriend, Sean Ackard. Still seeing Ezra, their relationship is broken up when Sean informs the police, having found out the secret from "A". Hanna barely survives being rundown by "A", and due to a head injury, she loses her memory of the previous day, thus forgetting "A"'s identity. A new "A" begins making threats. Ian denies being Ali's killer. The girls discover that the person they think is Ali's murderer — Ian Thomas — has actually been framed, and they start to wonder if the new "A" really wants to threaten them or just to solve the mystery.
Hanna and Kate compete for the affections of Aria's brother Mike Montgomery. Aria falls in love with Jason DiLaurentis again. After the fire, no one believes the girls when they insist that they saw Alison. Courtney had spent her life in institutions due to "health issues" and her existence was kept secret by her family.
Pretty Little Lies
It is revealed that Jason was not a patient at the Radley but instead he was visiting Courtney. She was finally released and went home to Rosewood, where she attempts to resume her sister's life and begins tentative friendships with Ali's old friends. She later reveals that she's actually Ali, the real Courtney had pretended to be her on the night of Ali's disappearance, and she was the one who was killed.
When she had tried to tell her family who she was, they didn't believe her because Courtney was notorious for pretending to be Ali, and sent her back to the institution in Courtney's place. The girls are thrilled that Ali is back, and jump at the chance to go with her to the family's house in the Poconos after a school dance. The book begins with the girls vacationing in Jamaica and Emily seeing a girl who she believes is Ali. Throughout the rest of the book, details about that fateful vacation emerge.
It is revealed that last summer while Spencer was taking AP courses at Penn , she began taking speed pills as a way to help with studying. After being arrested by the police for possession, she arranges for Hanna to help her frame her roommate, Kelsey, as a dealer, in order for Spencer to not face charges. After landing the role of Lady Macbeth in the school play, the stress and guilt begin to take their toll on Spencer, causing her to have frequent hallucinations in which she is haunted by Kelsey and Tabitha.
She becomes paranoid and begins to believe Kelsey is "A" and is taking revenge on her for being framed. Emily finds herself reconnecting with Isaac while attempting to tell him about her pregnancy, but she fears the repercussions of such a confession. It is revealed that prior to the events of Twisted , the Liars covered up Hanna's involvement in a car accident that left another girl, Madison, badly injured.
While on a school-sponsored cruise in the Caribbean, the Liars uncover clues that suggest "A" is more than one person. They begin to suspect Naomi Zeigler of being "A", after she befriends Hanna who is unaware that Madison is Naomi's cousin and attempts to sabotage Spencer's new relationship. Aria becomes friends with a boy named Graham, only to discover he is Tabitha's ex-boyfriend, leading the Liars come to believe that Naomi and Graham are working together as "A".
Meanwhile, Emily falls for a stowaway, Jordan, unaware that she is a thief on the run from the authorities. Weeks before the annual Rosewood Day Prom, the four girls are put under much stress. They break down and try being one step ahead of "A", and marking off who their suspects could be. In this novel it is revealed there are two people working as A.
Aria doesn't want to believe it but the facts tell her otherwise. He was on the trip to Jamaica, he went to Iceland. He was good friends with Ali he loved her , and he visited her in the Preserve when she was there. He knew about the twins. He knew enough to make him look like A. Emily tries getting information of out of Ali's old friends, Iris, who we met in '' Heartless. Iris tells Emily little tidbits of Ali, and at Prom Iris recognizes Noel and for sure he was Ali's secret boyfriend who visited her. Spencer finds an internet blogger, who blogs about Alison DiLaurentis theories.
She meets him and actually ends up liking him, finding his name is Chase. He helps Spencer get information on Alison. Hanna, in an attempt to get information on a burned victim from the last book, Graham, starts volunteering at the Burn Clinic. There, Graham is still in a coma and right when he's about to wake up, he dies -all the information is kept hidden for good. Aria, worried and paranoid about what happened last summer, is trying to handle things with Noel being A, even though she doesn't want to believe it.
He says he doesn't know. While Aria is attempting to get away, Noel pins her to the ground. Spencer, Hanna, and Emily arrive and Noel flees. The morning later, Hanna gets a text from A saying to go to the shed in the Rosewood Day back. She and the three other girls go, and just in case bring Cops and police and inside is a supposedly unconscious Noel tied up to a chair.
It is not revealed if Noel is dead or alive. The girls get a text, signed by A, informing them that they've failed to make progress, Noel wasn't A, and they are back where they started. December 3, .

The book starts out as the real Alison DiLaurentis is limping out of the burning house in her vacation home right after she tried to kill the liars. It's seemingly said in the start that she survived by the help of "Helper A" her boyfriend. Aria visits Noel in the hospital and it is shown that he is in fact still alive.
Agent Fuji comes to the girls after they are arrested for the charges they have committed over the past year. The girls finally admit to Agent Fuji about "A" and told her that all of their charges had to be dropped.
They also told her that they thought that Alison was still alive and that they needed hour protection of their family. Agent Fuji tells the girls to give her all of the "A" notes and the girls do as they are told. As a result of telling the police, "A" gave the police a fake security video of the girls beating up Tabitha before she is killed. The police arrest all of them and told the girls that all of the texts from "A" had come from their phones.
