How to Live Like a Daughter of God

Het doet me denken aan de sfeer van 'The Da Vinci Code' met vele religieuze geheimen en de zoektocht naar de waarheid May 13, Linda rated it really liked it Shelves: I lost the first book half way through reading it, and I bought another copy so that I could finish it right away. The central theme is focused around the lost record of Sophia who is said to be the daughter of God and the female Messiah.

The primary characters are Zoe and Seth Ridgeway, who were well developed and I found interesting and believable, and when approached by a very ill art dealer to return stolen Nazi art to the original owners, must follow a very dangerous and distant trail. From being held hostage to a Swiss chalet to the discussion of faith, this book will keep you in suspense and was an excellent read. It is filled with action, suspense, danger and the lure of discovering ancient artifacts and the mystery that surrounds them. Aug 16, Carefree Toni rated it really liked it.

I keep this one on my shelf. Despite reading books each month, I only keep a select few. The subject matter is so intriguing that I couldn't bear to part with it. I like the writing though I think the author could be a bit more descriptive in some areas, I found my attention wandered so I may have missed some things that would have helped me love the book. I usually only read 5 chapters at a time to stay focused, think about the material unless I "devour" a book in one sitting so I don't th I keep this one on my shelf. I usually only read 5 chapters at a time to stay focused, think about the material unless I "devour" a book in one sitting so I don't think I was tired when I read it.

I recommend it for book clubs. The discussion topics will make the meeting one of the most animated and controversial ones you have ever experienced.

Jun 21, Cassie Kabrick rated it it was amazing. If you enjoyed "The DiVinci Code", this one will be right up your alley. My only wish was that I had known a little more about theology before I started the book. This is not a fluff book where you can just read quickly and understand what is going on May 05, Karl rated it it was amazing. One of my favorite books! Perdue is an amazing author.

Look at religion as a different doorway to God. Aug 13, Peter rated it liked it Shelves: Not a bad religious thriller But as I said, I liked it and it is a good example of a truly addictive sub-genre. Jul 28, Susan aka Just My Op rated it liked it. A modern thriller about a female messiah whose existence was covered up by the Catholic church, artwork stolen by Hitler's people, much blackmail and murder, and the couple that is inadvertently in the middle of it all.

Some of it, as in Pope Pious XII's denial of the atrocities during the holocaust and Hitler's planned art museum to be filled with the stolen art, are true. Apr 11, Kyle Brennan rated it did not like it. This book was terrible. It was a fascinating premise, but the character and plot developments were completely illogical and the writing was excruciatingly poor. I left it at the beach I was so upset. Jan 11, Mike rated it liked it. I read this years before DaVinci Code came out and totally forgot that I did until the author, Perdue sued Dan Brown for plagarizing this book. This book is about the discovery of a female messiah and the church's attempts to cover it up.

Not nearly as good but an ok book on it's own merits. Do przeczytania i zapomnienia. Sep 26, Michael Anderson rated it it was ok. Great premise, but the writing was stodgy and not as compelling as I would like to keep the pages turning. Feb 25, Rena DeBerry rated it it was ok.

Grammatically correct but not a smooth read. I finished the book because the premise was interested but because the because the writing style was so stiff it made finishing the book difficult.

Memang sejak booming Da Vinci Code, muncullah efek Dan Brown dimana banyak terbitnya buku yang mengangkat masalah keagamaan, khususnya agama Kristen.

Kelanjutannya baca sendiri deh He dives into this investigation, strong-arming his way into a close knit community, while meeting resistance from higher ups who want his partner's misdeeds to stay buried. These two parts have something to do with each other, of course, but the intersections come pretty late into the narrative.

It almost feels like you're watching two completely different movies. One is told mostly in Spanish, about this young woman who might be encountering the divine, or simply separating herself from reality. The other film is a dour cop drama that very slowly unravels a mystery. Neither one of these movies is particularly good on its own. Stuck together, they both feel weaker. When the movie finally gets to the answers, they're horribly trite and underwhelming. Of the two parts, the police procedural is weaker. There's just so little progression in the narrative in these scenes.

It is as though these sequences were never really meant to be a focus for the movie. Galban doesn't really have an arc. He already knows right from the start that his partner wasn't the nicest guy. There is no real conflict in him learning more about the terrible things that he did.

Daughter of God Movie Review - 'Daughter of God' is Two Bad Movies in One | ClickTheCity Movies

There is some intrigue in his relationship with his partner's widow, and a trace of something dramatic in his relationship with his son, but none of it really turns into anything particular meaningful. Isabel's story is a little more interesting, if only because of its setting. And the suggestion of something mystical taking place occasionally gives this story a measure of intrigue.

But in the end, there isn't really anything here, either. It might just be the fact that this narrative has to split time with the other, but it just never really gets deep enough into anything to create anything of substance.
