    Difference between cognitionis, scientae, sapere?

[Entrevista al Extraterrestre] - Las cartas y notas de [Matilda O'Donnell MacElroy] Spanish- Espanol

Tantus est igitur innatus in nobis cognitionis amor et scientiae , ut nemo dubitare possit quin ad eas res hominum natura nullo emolumento invitata rapiatur. I found out that in the Spanish translation of the text the word conocimiento is used for cognitionis and saber for scientae.

    7. In another Spanish translation instead of saber the word aprender learning was used. In Spanish and their almost exact equivalents in most, if not all, romance languages there are two words that are translated as knowledge into English: Ella conoce a mi hermano. It is used when you know a fact, how to do something, have acquired an ability, or have learnt something profoundly.

      See a Problem?

I know how to cook. You know a lot of stuff. I believe the Latin word for wisdom sapientia is related to sapere. Now, of course the words science and ciencia come from scientiae.

El Principito [The Little Prince] (Spanish Edition)

Surely the term scientia had a broader nonspecialized meaning different from what we use today as science. Why sapere became the standard in romance languages instead of scientae? Did they somehow have similar connotations? Is there any source ancient or contemporary in which the distinctions or epistemological nuances of these Latin terms that have to do with knowledge are further explored or discussed? Thank you in advance for your help!
