The earliest mention of Herne comes from William Shakespeare's play The Merry Wives of Windsor, and it is impossible to know how accurately or to what degree Shakespeare may have incorporated a real local legend into his work, though there have been several later attempts to connect Herne to historical figures, pagan deities, or ancient archetypes.

Midnight Hunter by Bonnie Bernard
It seems to me that the characters especially my favorite ones were real in so many ways, that you could actually picture them saying and doing the things as they happen. Just keep in mind that The Midnight Hunter Trilogy is by far one of the best, if not the best series that I have read as of late. Bonnie has such a masterful way of bringing you in to each book, and not letting you go or get away far from the book for to long, because there is just too much to read. You will find Dawn of the Hunter even better than Midnight Hunter, if that is even possible.
But yes in this case I think I will have to say that Dawn of the Hunter is indeed better that the first book. Wow and that is saying a lot in my opinion!! With all that is going on between a goddess, the minions, the underworld and demons you will find yourself riveted and immersed in Dawn of the Hunter all the way to the end. Thank God there is a book 3, final Hour of The Hunter. YA and up Rating: Jun 29, Kelly Jones rated it it was amazing.
Where do you begin when everything about a book is just too good to miss even the smallest parts? That is how good book 2 of the Midnight Hunter series was for me. The second book is full of all the wonderful characters from the first book, Hunter is still moody and controlling, Donna is still very innocent, although her eyes are opened towards the end of the book, Mad Mo is still as abrupt and hilarious as ever, in only the way someone with her style of bluntness can be. I love how there is mor Where do you begin when everything about a book is just too good to miss even the smallest parts?
I love how there is more time to get to know the suave healer Dante, with all his charm and what almost seems like magic, and Trent with his almost casual laid back charm, he is almost Mo's exact opposite. There is also the chance to get to know the unusually grumpy Howie and all his "charms". Howie plays an integral part in this book and his abruptness is so amusing that it becomes his endearing quality.
I love how he refers to nearly everyone as stupid human or Donna as virginal human, and also Cassie as the bullheaded human. Cassie I would say is a demonologist with some special abilities which Howie puts to good use to help unravel the prophecy and in the process finds himself becoming friends with the "stupid human" he claims to hate the most. This book has so much action in it, and Donna as usual is right at the heart of all the usual disturbances and chaos, as she just isn't one to be told what to do.
I love her and Howie's friendship and I also love that divine intervention is required to mend Howie's injured male ego, which definitely put a smile on my face. The anticipation of what was happening with Lucinda's brightness had me on the edge of my seat and the fear of what would become of her was almost too much to bare.
Big guns, the end of the world, lots of action and a jar of pickles I would definitely recommend this series to all my friends. Thanks Bonnie Bernard for introducing me to these great characters. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review Jun 18, Ema Volf rated it it was amazing. This is book 2 in The Midnight Hunter Trilogy. Why am I still up at 3: Because I couldn't put the darn thing down! This book starts up a few months after the point where we left off in Midnight Hunter.

Donna was visited by the goddess Alicia and instructed to seek help from the weapons dealer that I mentioned I wanted to meet in the last book! And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed! He is exactly as fascinating as I'd imagined, if not more so! On the way to their rescue mission, we are informed that a woman named Cassie has also gone missing.
Cassie had found the lost copy of an Underworld Prophecy, and was able to translate it, making her a target for Underworld creatures. One of the things I found most interesting was watching that prophecy unravel. When I started to really learn about it, and the characters that were foretold to be involved, I couldn't help but wonder how in the world the author was going to pull it off without either having the characters destroy each other or having the whole thing be completely unbelievable for the reader.
Yet again, I was pleasantly surprised. The author pulled it off beautifully. This book was much more fast-paced than the one before it. It had much more action, but not so much that it leaves the reader overwhelmed or confused.
Just the right amount. It definitely kept my mind wondering and guessing what could possibly happen next, and definitely not in a bad way. Once again, I really have to give the author props for her characters. Bonnie Bernard definitely knows her characters, and she fleshes them out so well, they seem to hang around in your head long after you've put the book down. I was given this book from the author for an honest review. The second book in the Midnight Hunter Trilogy was a book I could not put down.
Bonnie has done it again with another amazing book. Dawn of the Hunter was just as intense as the first one. As soon as you go to the first page you are already hooked, Dawn of the Hunter takes place a few months after the first book. Donna and Hunter's daughter Lucinda is born, a new character gets introduced, and another character gets some book time and Donna fights for her daughters soul.
I can say I was surprised about Howie and Cassie actually getting together. The relationship between Howie the weapons dealer and Donna is quite funny, because if though Howie is this demon well half demon I should say he puts on this front. And you can tell Donna cares for him in a friend type way, because she sticks up for him and even listens to him call her a stupid human. Hunter in this book makes me a little upset at him, because he thinks Donna can not take care of herself, and is overly-protective.
But at the end he comes to terms that Donna can take care of her self, and her family. She is not a weakling. At the end of the book I am excited to see about Howie and how he will react to what happened. I can not wait to read book three in this trilogy. Bonnie is an amazing author. Tuns out eeryone is going crazy about the prophecy that was written by the Gods a long time ago. It seems Donna's child is the center of all the hidden clues.
This book starts the story just as the first one stopped off. While the first was centered around a powerful love story, this one has much more action with romantic overtones. I read it all wt one time! Even though there are demons its not a dark novel by any means. I like this one even more than the first. We get much more indepth looks at wach of the characters and learn how they tick. Even Donna's marriage is shown to have a mortal emotions and tendencies. Nice to see than even a perfect couoles get on each others nerves go over and pick it up!!! Jul 05, Claire Taylor rated it really liked it.
I received this book from the author on a read to review basis. This is the second book in the Midnight Hunter Trilogy, and starts off a few months after book one ended. Vampires, demons, the minions, the underworld and a goddess - all the characters are back from book one, and some new ones have come out to play.
The characters have all greatly evolved, and there is much more action this time around. There are so many twists and turns, keeping you gripped right up until the end. Only down side is that there is a part of the story that you learn about second hand. Despite the above, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, more than I did the first and looking forward to finishing the trilogy with Final Hour of the Hunter Donna gets herself in more trouble than anyone have ever seen before even with vampire protectors. Boy, is Donna in deep with a Demon, even trying to friend the demon. The Prophecy is being dived into deeper in the this book and more it does the more trouble Donna seems to get into.
This book covers everything there is to cover, in my opinion, for the paranormal underworld. The characters are still awesome with getting to know a few extras a little better. I loved the action and suspense in this book and I had to keep reading to find out more. Once I got started there was no putting it down. I cant wait to dive in to book 3. My fave character of all is Mr. Find out why he is my fave character. Lets see if Donna gets her happy ever after in the end!! This is a MUST read suspence, action, comedy all rolled into one!!
May 09, Jennifer Davis rated it it was amazing. This is book 2 of The Midnight Hunter Trilogy. I loved this book as much, if not more, than the first one. As you know from book 1, Donna has a real niche for getting herself into a pickle, and continues to do so in this book. I am glad to say, she has become less naive and has actually grown a pair, thanks to my new favorite character, Howie. Oh Howie, he is such a bad ass with all his demonic dismay. He is one of a kind, kicking ass and taking names kind of guy, and may be the end of all human This is book 2 of The Midnight Hunter Trilogy.
He is one of a kind, kicking ass and taking names kind of guy, and may be the end of all humanity as we know it. All Donna wants is to live a normal family life, but who knew to do so, she must first save them and possibly save the world. This book is a real soul snatcher! I can't wait to read the final book in the trilogy and see if Donna will finally get her happily ever after, or if it will all end in a nightmare!
Apr 04, Lindsay Kendal rated it really liked it Shelves: The writing was more stable only occasionally going a little out of plonk. There is more action, witty lines to keep you amused and tension and excitement to keep you glued to the pages. We meet new characters and are reunited with the ones we already enjoyed spending time with in the first novel. I have to say I love the demon in this book. Then again I love anything to do with demons. This character is great and actually had me laughing 4. This character is great and actually had me laughing out loud at times with some of the things he came out with.
This author is definitely growing as a writer, that is clearly evidential. I would say this book is actually better than a lot you get from the bigger publishing houses these days. Not even the waitress could see anybody behind Donna, but see thought a guy to Donnas left was. She pointed to where he was standing, but he was gone when Donna looked around, poof! Donna then saw him, and oh my goodness was he handsome. He disappeared into the darkness again. She yelled at him, to have the blue car stop following her! Hunter is the mysterious guy from The Darkside night club and he is Donnas Eternal mate and his evil brother Stephen who keeps killing Donna, only for Donna to reincarnate once again.
Giving away to much! I know there are so many questions that remain unanswered, or that you are saying, wait I need to know the answer to that. I guess that you are just going to have to get this series and find the answers yourself!!! And I mean it when I say must read. Go get your copies of this amazing series and dive into the mystery and suspense that awaits you. But I must warn you, you will not be able to put these books down..

Laced with laugh-out-loud humor and choc-full of adrenaline-pumping thrills and chills, the author proves to have a natural knack for taking the reader on a rollercoaster ride of different emotions. Jun 16, Ema Volf rated it it was amazing. This is the first book in The Midnight Hunter Trilogy, and I have to say, it's definitely a great start! I enjoyed this book from the very beginning even through the author bio in the back! Yes, I said it! I even read the author bio and it made me giggle! Midnight Hunter mainly focuses on a young woman named Donna. Even from the beginning, Donna has strange dreams that seem to get a little too close for comfort.
Soon enough, she even starts to sustain injuries from things that happen in her dream This is the first book in The Midnight Hunter Trilogy, and I have to say, it's definitely a great start! Soon enough, she even starts to sustain injuries from things that happen in her dreams. Donna's friend, Mo, decides she wants to take Donna to a club. What Donna wasn't aware of at first is the fact that girls matching Donna's description had been disappearing from this club. Preferring to stay further away from crowds, Donna head to a more secluded place in the club where she meets Hunter, your typical broody male vampire.
We soon find out that Hunter is the brother of the man responsible for the disappearances. While there are some pieces of this story that do fall into the category of "typical vampire romance," I found myself drawn into this story by parts that were really very unique. I even found myself loving a few of the lesser characters. Really that's something that Bonnie Bernard does very well. She knows how to bring amazing characters. In fact, there was even one character, specifically a weapons dealer, that we only got to meet through a phone call and a few brief mentions in conversations, that I would love to be a fly on the wall to watch inside his shop even for a day!

Now Donna is battling for her life, and any normalcy that she used to have. This is the first book in the series, and leaves you with a big enough cliff-hanger at the end that you want to pick book two up right away. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but once I did I didn't want to put it down.
I love the characters of Mo, Samee and Dante. Donna and Hunter grow on you, there characters are more complex. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I was given this book from the author herself to give an honest review! I honestly loved, this book. Mo kept me laughing from the beginning with everything that came out of her mouth. Vampires, and minions, and underworld things are all in this book. I truly enjoyed reading about each character in their own little way. Though Hunter made me a little upset at times only because of the way he acts.
Can not wait to read in book 2 how this I was given this book from the author herself to give an honest review! Can not wait to read in book 2 how this is going to turn out. I do have to say Mo is one of my favorite characters in this book because she speaks her mind and she doesn't care who it offends or what is said. She dresses in her own way and doesn't care about other's opinions. Now being pregnant myself I crave a lot of what Mo craves lol. And with the reference of chocolate chip cookies crumbled up underneath a banana, and I believe drizzled with chocolate syrup.
Oh my that just sounded delicious. Thank you Bonnie for that hunger moment for me. D Midnight Hunter is about a young woman name Donna who is in danger. She dreams of a man who wants her dead. This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. This book has it all, a bit of fear, a lot of thrill and even some mystery and steamy romance. There is definitely no sparkle in the vampires in this book, they are the frightening creatures of nightmares in their true form. However I love how in this book vampires carry traits through with them from their mortal lives, so good people are even better vampires, while evil people are even worse vampires.
I like that they are not all evil a This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I like that they are not all evil and out for blood. The characters are easy to get along with, the main characters being Donna who suffers from terrible dreams which seep into her reality leaving her bruised and in pain, her best friend Mo, who is such a good hearted person but can be extremely out there.
Mo is probably my favourite as she just blurts everything out and she is rough, no polished edges anywhere to be seen, she provides a smile through out the story with her bluntness and lack of charm. Then there is Hunter the mysterious man in the teen dance club. Gorgeous and mysterious and the key to help Donna figure out her own life and the things that terrify her.
Sammee is a very bright bubbly ray of sunshine in a very dim world, but she adds a certain amount of freshness to everything she comes in contact with, even though I think if she were real her perkiness would send me a little bit crazy after a while. Midnight Hunter is such an easy book to read, and I can;t wait to be swallowed up into Dawn Of The Hunter to find out what creepiness is in store for the group next.

Weirdly enough, she has began to have some of the creepiest nightmares ever. As she begins her senior year of college het whole world begins to change.
The only constant she has is that her always witty and beyond crazy best friend Mo. Soon Donna finds herself unexplainably drawn to Hunter. He is a long tall drink of water on legs. He also carries around son deep and dark secrets which Donna is set on finding. This book is wonderfully romantic, eerie and inspirational all at the same time. As Donna goes in this journey she learns strength at the same time. The prophetic nigjmares really creeped me out, in a good way LOL. The author has action without being overly busy. It is well written in believable situations that play out in unsuspecting ways.
I have to read book 2 now just to see where this story goes A hands down thrill ride for sure!!!! Mar 17, Lynn Worton rated it it was amazing.
